The war on pavement parking has been stepped up again - with police issuing over a hundred fines to selfish drivers in a matter of days.
The issue of pavement parking has been a huge one in the city for years with drivers regularly leaving vehicles parked either partly or fully across pedestrian areas. Such parking can make it very difficult - or even impossible - for people to get past
For a long time, people around the city have called for tougher action to be taken on those blighting the city with selfish and dangerous parking and in recent weeks it appears that enforcement action has been stepped up.

Last week we reported a number of vehicles had been hit with fines after parking all over the pavement in the Whitechapel area of the city centre. Merseyside Police shared an image of three cars parked on the pavement and confirmed all had been ticketed.
In a more recent post, the force's Roads Policing Unit reported it has carried out wide-ranging action around the city in recent days, with more than one hundred drivers hit with fines.
On its twitter account, the Roads Policing Unit shared a number of images of cars parked dangerously and carelessly - including several parked on pavements - and said: "Just a few of the 115 vehicles issued with fines for causing an obstruction over the last couple of evenings in the city centre."
The action has been warmly welcomed, with some members of the public hoping it could start to tackle the widespread issue. One commenter said: "Well done brilliant work. So many out there that need fines even then some will still park there again in a few days. But hopefully regular enforcement should start to effect change."
Cycling campaigner Andi Armitage asked: "Are things starting to change?", while David Owen said: "Excellent work, the police need to employ extra officers just for this job alone because the amount of drivers committing this offence is endless."
Liverpool city centre councillor Nick Small is someone who has campaigned against pavement parking around his Liverpool Central ward for some years now. He also welcomed the concerted action by police, working with the city council
He said: "I'm really pleased that Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council are taking action against illegal antisocial pavement parking. I hope the increased enforcement action we are seeing starts to focus the minds of those responsible and educates people.
He added: "Pavement parking makes our pavements less safe and more difficult to use for pedestrians, especially for more vulnerable people like people with mobility issues or parents pushing prams."
But while the police action has been welcomed, there still appears to be lots of work to do in this area. This week ECHO photographers have pictured a number of vehicles parked on pavements around the city, making it clear this is not an issue that will be dealt with overnight.
One area of the city Cllr Small has repeatedly raised as an issue for pavement parking is on a section of The Strand, outside the Heavenly Desserts parlour.
Earlier this year the city council installed a number of large planters to try and limit the number of cars that could attempt to park on the pedestrian pavement outside the venue.
