Police find man dead after emergency response to Scottish town

A MAN has been found dead by police in a residential area in Motherwell.

Officers were called to a report of a concern for a person in the Watson Street area of the town on Monday, December 16, at around 8.10am.

Emergency crews raced to the scene and the body of a 55-year-old man was discovered.

His next of kin have been made aware.

Following that, officers say a 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with an alleged assault.

He was released pending further enquiries.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We were called around 8.10am on Monday, December 16, to a report of a concern for a person in the Watson Street area of Motherwell.

“Emergency services attended and the body of a 55-year-old man was found within.

"His next of kin are aware.

“A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault and released pending further enquiries."
