Police find crime den in home on residential street after anonymous tip-off

An anonymous tip-off has helped police find a cannabis farm at a Greater Manchester house. Police left the Eccles property with several bags full of cannabis plants following a raid on Monday morning (May 9).

Officers descended on Kilrush Avenue at around 8.30am yesterday to search the property. Greater Manchester Police says the raid was carried out following information passed on by the public to the independent Crimestoppers charity.

The charity allows members of the public to share tips and make criminal reports completely anonymously. GMP says the information was shared by the charity and led to yesterday's raid.

Officers left the scene having dismantled the cannabis farm and removed the plants from the building. No arrests have been made so far, GMP says.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Officers from Salford attended an address on Kilrush Avenue on Monday, May 9, this was in response to Crimestoppers intelligence that suggested a cannabis farm may be present. Officers located and recovered a cannabis farm but no arrests have been made so far."

Anyone with information about criminal activity can contact Crimestoppers anonymously by phoning 0800 555 111. Alternatively, contact GMP on 101 or visit the force's website.
