Police have issued an update relating to their investigation into the murder of Brianna Ghey.
Brianna, 16, was found stabbed in Linear Park, Culcheth, Warrington at 3.13pm on Saturday (February 11). On Sunday (February 12), detectives arrested a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, both from the local area, on suspicion of murder.
Today (February 14), Cheshire Police were granted an extension of 30 hours to further question the two suspects. The police have also stated that all lines of enquiry are being explored, including whether it was a hate crime.

Initially, officers said there was "no evidence to suggest that the circumstances surrounding Brianna’s death are hate related".
On Monday, Brianna's family paid tribute to her. They said: "Brianna was a much loved daughter, granddaughter, and baby sister.
"She was a larger than life character who would leave a lasting impression on all that met her. Brianna was beautiful, witty and hilarious. Brianna was strong, fearless and one of a kind.
"The loss of her young life has left a massive hole in our family, and we know that the teachers and her friends who were involved in her life will feel the same. We would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support during this extremely difficult time.
"We would like to thank the police for their support, and witnesses for helping with the investigation. The continuation of respect for privacy is greatly appreciated."
Vigils for Brianna, from Birchwood, will take place across the country tonight. One will take place at St George's Hall at 7pm, arranged by members and allies of the LGBTQIA community.
