Police discover cannabis farm with more than 80 plants in County Durham

Police have uncovered a cannabis farm with more than 80 plants in County Durham.

The cannabis grow was discovered by officers from Ferryhill Neighbourhood Policing Team and Response at an address in Rennie Street, Ferryhill, on Friday, February 18.

They recovered more than 80 cannabis plants and other equipment from the address.

Police said the electricity meter had also been bypassed which posed a major hazard to neighbouring properties but it has since been made safe.

Durham Constabulary said enquiries are ongoing to locate any suspects and thanked members of the community for providing information.

A spokesperson for Spennymoor and Ferryhill Police said: "Officers from Ferryhill Neighbourhood Policing Team and Response recovered over 80 cannabis plants and other equipment at an address in Rennie Street last Friday (February 18th).

"The plants have been removed and enquiries are ongoing to locate any suspects.

"Officers would like to thank the local community for providing information and supporting police action.
