Police descended on a Greater Manchester town after a shoplifting spree affecting a number of businesses. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large police presence across Droylsden this morning (January 16).
Greater Manchester Police was called out following reports of shoplifting across multiple stores in the Tameside town. Businesses targeted included the Tesco supermarket, on Manchester Road, and the Spar convenience store, on Sunnyside Road.
Officers were also seen in attendance on Market Street in the town centre following the shoplifting incidents. A number of police cars were seen at the household waste recycling centre, on Ash Road.

GMP has since arrested three men in connection with the incidents. A spokesperson for GMP told the Manchester Evening News: "Officers were called to multiple incidents of shoplifting in Droylsden this morning (January 16, 2023) and have arrested three men in their 30s.
"All three remain in custody for questioning." GMP has been approached for further information on the scene outside Droylsden household waste recycling centre.
