One of Manchester's busiest roads was closed off at rush hour after a man suffered 'life-changing' injuries. Police were called out to Princess Road, near to the Mancunian Way, at around 5.20pm today (January 10) following reports of concern for a man's welfare.
He was rushed to hospital after being found with injuries that Greater Manchester Police believe to be life-changing. The circumstances leading up to the incident have not yet been confirmed and police are continuing with their enquiries.
People have been urged to avoid the area this evening while officers carry out their investigations. The route had been closed to traffic heading southbound, but Transport for Greater Manchester confirmed the road had reopened at around 7.15pm.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 5.20pm this evening (Tuesday, January 10 2023), officers were called to a concern for welfare of a man on Princess Road in Manchester city centre. Emergency services attended the scene and the male has been taken to hospital with what are believed to be life-changing injuries.
"Officers remain at the scene to conduct further enquiries. GMP are urging members of the public to avoid the area and plan ahead for their journeys in and out of the city centre."
