Police descend on busy street following 'assault'

Police have descended on a busy Stockport street after being called out to an alleged assault. Eyewitnesses have reported seeing a large police presence on Finney Lane, in Heald Green, between Styal Road and the railway line today (August 2).

Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to the scene at around 11.50am following reports of an assault. In a statement issued this afternoon, the force said its officers remain in the area following the incident.

No arrests have been made so far and no serious injuries have been reported following the incident, GMP says. Further details about the incident and those involved are yet to be confirmed.
