Police made arrests at the Blackheath fair in south-east London - (UKNIP)

Police have made several arrests after a “large group of youths” caused unrest at a funfair on Blackheath Common.

Officers were called to the scene on Tuesday afternoon following reports a group of teenagers were causing disorder.

Six people were arrested for various offences including public order and possession of weapons, Met Police said.

Video footage posted on social media platform X show dozens of officers attempting to disperse a crowd.

A Section 60 order, which gives police greater powers to stop and search individuals, has been put in place in the area.

The force said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: “On Tuesday, 8 April police were made aware of large group of youths causing disorder on Blackheath Common.

“Officers dispersed the youths throughout the afternoon.

“There were several arrests for separate offences, including arrests for possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

“A section 60 order and a dispersal order was put in place within the area.

“There were no reports of any injuries to members of the public.”
