Man, 25, in custody after siege in Brisbane suburb of Sunnybank Hills

A 25-year-old man has been taken into custody after a siege in Sunnybank Hills.

Police declared an emergency at Bradman Street just after 1pm on Friday after reports a man and woman were holed up in a bathroom.

Negotiators were on the scene for several hours before concerns for the woman inside, aged 26, led specialist officers to force their way in.

Bradman Street and nearby roads were closed, and local residents were urged to stay inside as police responded.

The man was taken to hospital in police custody with injuries to his legs.

Whiile the woman was also taken to hospital, is believed to be uninjured.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said the stand-off had "ended peacefully".

"I'd just like to thank members of the public in the nearby residences and businesses [who] have worked with us this afternoon to ensure we had a safe area to operate. It can be inconvenient for people but this was a high-risk situation, which I'm very thankful to report this afternoon has ended peacefully."

The emergency declaration was revoked just before 4pm.

Charges are expected to be laid.
