Police shut a road in Port Talbot town centre following what detectives say is a "serious incident".
One local resident took a picture at 12.15pm on Thursday showing ambulance and police vehicles on Dan Y Bryn Road. He said the road remained cordoned off by police at 6pm.
The resident said the incident had caused "chaos on the roads" in the town centre. Another local posted on social media at 12.14pm that there were "police and ambulances everywhere" on Dan Y Bryn Road.
South Wales Police control room has told WalesOnline the emergency services presence had been in response to a "serious incident" and that a force spokesperson will provide a statement soon.
Wales Ambulance Service has also been approached for more details.
