A woman was taken to hospital after she was hit by a car this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the Co-op on Station Road in Ainsdale at around 4.30pm today (Friday, March 18) after reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a silver Ford Transit van in the store's car park. The driver of the van remained at the scene and assisted police during their enquiries.
The woman was then taken to hospital with injuries to her face that are not life-threatening. Police cordoned off part of the car park as a number of vehicles, along with ambulance crews, attended the scene.

One person told the ECHO at the scene that there was "a lot of blood". She said: "A poor woman was run over. There was a lot of blood but I'm not sure whether she's okay or not."
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "At around 4.30pm today (Friday 18 March) officers were called to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a silver Ford transit van at the store car park on Station Road. The driver of the van remained at the scene and assisted police with their enquiries.
"The woman was taken to hospital with injuries to her face that are not life-threatening. There was a police scene during the incident whilst officers carried out their enquiries which has now been removed."
