Cops have combed through a shed where a 'grenade' had to be destroyed in a 'controlled explosion'.
Police returned to Burnfoot Avenue, Troon today just hours after a unit safely detonated the ex-military device that was discovered in the shed of a property.
Bomb squad teams descended on the street after the alarm was raised around 4.15pm on Thursday night.
Around 50 homes were evacuated including elderly residents of a sheltered housing complex.
Pictures from the scene showed a bomb disposal robot being utilised at the scene as stunned neighbours watched on.
The device was eventually disposed off the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
But today it is understood that officers returned to the scene to further check the contents of the shed as a precaution.
Ayrshire Live understands that weapons believed to be historic air rifles were since removed from the shed.
A neighbour said: "There were more police turning up today with two vans parked outside for some time.
"We've heard they had found air rifles and removed them just to be on the safe side."
Police say they removed further items and ensured there was no risk to the wider public.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “During a search of the shed further items were found. They have been removed to be made safe.
“Further enquiries have been carried out at the property on Friday, April 21 but there is no risk to the wider public.”
