THREE people who were killed in a crash between a car and a lorry on the A9 earlier this month have been named as American tourists.

The collision occurred around 4.50pm on Wednesday August 10 by Ralia, south of Newtonmore, at the junction with the B9150.

Police confirmed on Saturday that 46-year-old Kathryn Bastion-Strong, her brother 45-year-old Jared Bastion and their mother 75-year-old Mary-Lou Mauch died following the crash.

The driver, Mrs Bastion-Strong was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with serious injuries but died four days later on August 14.

Mr Bastion and Ms Mauch were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The lorry driver, a 59-year-old man, was unhurt.

Sergeant Alasdair Mackay said: “Our thoughts remain with all the family and friends of those who have died at what is a very difficult time for all.”

A GoFundMe page set up for Mr Bastion’s family has raised more than $12,000.
