Emergency services are attending to an ongoing incident at Hengrove Park Leisure Centre in Bristol this evening (February 23). Police and the fire service were called to the venue at around 1.30pm following reports of 'chemicals being left in a locker by a leisure centre user'.
The building was evacuated as precaution and no injuries have been reported. Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed that the substance has since been removed and enquiries are ongoing.
At around 4.30pm, Hengrove Park Leisure Centre told customers: "All activities tonight are cancelled. The centre is still closed until further notice." A parent also reported that their child was at school swimming lessons when the incident happened and that they were "kept inside within the training pool area for some time."

Pictures from the scene showed emergency services outside of the building, along with people who had been evacuated.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "“We were called at around 1.30pm today (Thursday 23 February) to Hengrove Park Leisure Centre, in Bristol, following reports of a chemicals being left in a locker by a leisure centre user.
“The building was evacuated as a precaution, and no one has been injured. Emergency services have since removed the substance and enquiries are ongoing.”
