Police have confirmed that a person died at a crash on the A9 in Highland Perthshire on Friday. The incident happened north of the Hermitage on the southbound carriageway at Dowally.
Ambulance, air ambulance and fire rescue teams were involved in the devatating smash.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a two-car crash on the A9 near Dunkeld around 12.05pm on Friday, September 16.
“Emergency services attended, however, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Two people were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance and air ambulance.”
The road was closed for seven hours for crash investigation and reopened at around 7.30pm on Friday.
The diversion of traffic heading northwards onto routes via Bridge of Cally and Aberfeldy reportedly caused “gridlock” and congestion on the back road to Aberfeldy was particularly bad as HGVs attempted to keep moving during the seven-hour closure of the A9.
