Police 'concerned' for missing woman last seen in Edinburgh

A search is underway to trace a missing woman who vanished in Edinburgh yesterday.

Maryam Arshad was last seen in the Ferry Road area of the capital at 4.45pm. Officers say they are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

The 24-year-old is described as being 5ft 7in tall and with long dark hair worn in a ponytail. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a pink lightweight summer jacket with maroon top underneath, patterned trousers with small flowers.

She also had a small, black cross-body black bag in her possession.

Inspector Caroline Flynn said : “We are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of a Maryam and would ask her to get in contact. Anyone who knows where she is, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3581 of 20 July."
