Police close Tower Bridge to traffic and pedestrians over concerns for person’s welfare

Tower Bridge in central London has reopened after it was closed by police due to concerns for a person’s welfare.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area, when the bridge was shut in both directions to traffic and pedestrians on Tuesday night.

City of London Police tweeted around 8.20pm: “Tower Bridge is closed in both directions for both pedestrians and traffic whilst our officers deal with an incident; please find alternative routes.”

But the force published an update at around 9.20pm, saying the bridge had reopened.

City of London Police has been approached for further information.

Help can be reached for free through the Samaritans on 116 123 or at jo@samaritans.org.

For more information on finding help, the NHS has a range of services.
