Police chase boy, 14, after car keys stolen from inside house

Police made two arrests after a car was stolen during a burglary in Aigburth last weekend.

Officers received reports a white Peugeot was stolen from outside a property on Errol Street, on Sunday, January 30, between 2am and 10.30am.

The victims reported that the offenders broke into their property and took the keys.

Detectives launched an investigation and days later, on Tuesday, February 1, they spotted the Peugeot near Fulwood Drive, just streets away.

Officers attended the scene and chased down two teenagers.

An 18-year-old and 14-year-old, both from Liverpool, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a car.

They were taken into custody and were questioned by police. They have now been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Inspector Dave Uren said: "Thanks to information from the local community and our extensive investigations we have been able to make two arrests in relation to a vehicle theft following a burglary in the L17 area.

"We understand how concerning such incidents are for local residents and I would like to reassure the community that we are doing all we can to find out who is responsible for vehicle thefts and burglaries.
