Detectives investigating the death of 16-year-old Rohan Shand in Northampton have charged two teenage boys with his murder. The boys aged 16 and 14 are both from Northampton, and cannot be named for legal reasons.
They will appear at Northampton Magistrates’ Court this morning (Saturday March 25). Rohan Shand, who was known as Fred by his family and friends, died following an incident near the Cock Hotel in Harborough Road, Kingsthorpe, at about 3.35pm on Wednesday (March 22).
Two men, aged 49 and 21 from Northampton – who were arrested in connection with the death, have both been released with no further action, and officers would still like to speak to witnesses, anyone with information and anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dash-cam footage of the area at the time.
A forensic post-mortem carried out on Thursday by a Home Office pathologist identified the single stab wound as his cause of death. Northamptonshire Police asked for the family's privacy to be respected and urged the public not to share “insensitive posts and images” on social media to avoid causing “additional distress”.
Anyone with information or CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage of the area at the time have been asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 23000174855.
