Police charge Townsville man with murder over mother's death after stabbing at Mundingburra

A 25-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged over the stabbing death of his mother in Townsville.

Emergency services were called to a home on Wellington Street in Mundingburra at 11:45am on Thursday.

A 44-year-old woman was discovered inside with multiple stab wounds.

Police and paramedics performed CPR but she died at the scene.

The woman's son, Bramwell Tyler-James Tallis, was arrested a short time later.

Police said the mother and son lived together at the Mundingburra address.

Detective Acting Inspector Chris Hicks said Tallis was found on a nearby street with two knives.

He was charged with murder, serious assault and going armed so as to cause fear.

His lawyer appeared on his behalf in Townsville Magistrates Court on Friday and did not apply for bail.

Tallis will remain in custody until his next court date in March.
