Police have charged a man over a series of incidents across Melbourne in which women have been assaulted and had their designer shoes stolen.
Investigators allege the 31-year-old man followed a woman along a West Melbourne street just before 4am on December 20 last year.
Police said the man followed the woman for about five minutes near Batman Street before assaulting her, stealing her shoes, and leaving in a vehicle.
The 23-year-old victim was left grazed and bruised and reported the assault to police.
The man was arrested on January 26 after police raided a property and seized items including women's designer sneakers and a taser-style device.
At the time, he was interviewed and charged with offences including robbery, assault with intent to commit sexual assault and intentionally causing injury.
"After further investigation, detectives charged the man over four further robberies where women were allegedly followed, assaulted and had their high-end shoes stolen," Victoria Police said in a statement.
Other alleged incidents took place in Springvale, in Melbourne's south-east, on Merton Street at about 10pm on July 19, 2021, and at about 9:40pm on Springvale Road on October 6, 2021.
He has also been charged with two alleged offences in Clayton, one suburb away from Springvale, in an alley off Djerring Trail on Centre Road at about 10:30pm on November 14, 2021, and on the corner of Thompson Street and Flora Road at about 12:10am on January 10, 2022.
The man has been remanded in custody and will appear again before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on April 21.
"The investigation remains active and ongoing," police said.
