Paul Anthony Cannon charged with Landsdale murder of Lynn Cannon in Landsdale in Perth's north

A 55-year-old man has appeared in court on a charge of murdering his estranged wife, who was found dead at a home in Perth's northern suburbs.

The body of Lynn Cannon, 51, was found at the house on Hardcastle Avenue in Landsdale just before 9pm on Monday night.

Police said they received several calls to attend the home amid reports of screaming and a disturbance.

Paul Anthony Cannon was taken into custody at the house on Monday night and treated in hospital under police guard for injuries that were described as self-inflicted.

Homicide Squad detectives have since charged the 55-year-old, who had been separated from Ms Cannon for over two years, with murder.

He was not required to plead during a court appearance earlier today via a hospital bedside hearing.

Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Cleal said yesterday the woman had suffered multiple wounds to her body.

"There were several calls made [for police to go] to the house, there were screaming noises and obvious signs of a disturbance," he said.

"There were also calls from family members concerned for the welfare of the victim."

Police said the investigation into the woman's death was ongoing.

Mr Cannon is due to appear in court again on January 18.
