Police car 'loses control' and smashes into two motors outside Scots garage

A police car has smashed into vehicles outside a car dealership in Inverness.

Police were alerted after the incident at around 2:45pm on Tuesday, November 8, at the Honda garage on Harbour Road, Inverness. Cops say the road has been closed and diversions are in place whilst emergency crews remain at the scene.

One picture shows the police car lying on top of the front of a Honda. An officer is standing with his hand on his head as members of the public survey the scene.

Another image shows eight fire fighters standing around the vehicles as they begin to recover the motors from the side of the road.

Speaking to the Record, a bystander said the police car was racing along the road when it lost control and hit a black Honda vehicle, before the collision with a blue Honda brought the vehicle to a halt. A further yellow car is also shown to have suffered damage.

He said: "It seems like the police car was racing down the road just before a railway bridge. It looks like it lost control and the result is as you can see.

"The police car has hit another car before hitting the blue stationary vehicle. The occupants are receiving medical help."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.45pm on Tuesday, 8 November, 2022, emergency services were called to Harbour Road, Inverness, following a two car crash involving a police vehicle. The male driver of the other car was checked over by paramedics at the scene.

“The road was closed for a short time whilst the cars were cleared off the roadway and was re-opened around 4pm. Enquiries are ongoing into the incident.”
