Officer taken to hospital after police car involved in collision on Scottish motorway

A POLICE officer was taken to hospital following involvement in a three-car collision on a Scottish motorway.

The three-car crash between a police car and two other vehicles closed the eastbound on slip at Junction 19 Anderston Cross.

Police said their car had been on the way to an emergency call-out when it was caught in the collision.

They further said the driver of the police vehicle was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment for minor injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.50am on Friday, December 30 we were made aware of a crash on the M8 at junction 19 involving a police car and two other vehicles.

"Recovery of the vehicles is under way.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
