Police were called to a Lanarkshire shopping centre last night after a security guard was assaulted.
EK, East Kilbride has branded the attack "unacceptable" but told Lanarkshire Live the safety of staff and visitors is its "top priority".
One onlooker described a rammy unfolding after two girls, described between 12 and 14, were repeatedly asked to leave the centre by security at around 6.30pm.
The man posted of social media: "Maybe time for a curfew in the centre. Every night there's been young people shouting and screaming. Tonight was the worst.
"The security guard at the town centre kept asking these girls to leave. The second time he came along is when it kicked off, the wee girls shouting and swearing at him."
He claims that a man from a nearby pub then became involved which resulted in the security guard being "attacked".
A spokesperson for EK, East Kilbride, said: “We can confirm that there was an incident in the town centre on July 21, which resulted in one of our security guards being assaulted.
"The police were called and we have supplied CCTV and bodycam footage to assist with their enquiries.
"Like other town centres across the country, EK experiences periodic instances of anti-social behaviour, which is clearly completely unacceptable.
"Our top priority is the safety and security of visitors and staff, and our security team aims to deal with all instances of unruly behaviour quickly and effectively.”
Police Scotland were contacted for comment.
