Police called to anti-social behaviour and underage drinking in Chilwell on patrol

Police had to be called to a large group of youths who were causing trouble on Chilwell High Road. Broxtowe Police were called on Wednesday, July 6 after patrolling around Beeston and Chilwell.

They say alcohol was confiscated off an underage drinker and a shop was also fined for selling the alcohol to them. It comes after recent reports of intimidating anti-social behaviour in Beeston near the new ARC cinema in Station Road.

The force said in a Facebook post: "Yesterday the Broxtowe County Reacher team spent the evening patrolling areas of Beeston and Chilwell and were in the right place at the right time to intervene when a member of the public alerted the force control room of a large group of youths engaging in anti-social behaviour on Chilwell High Road.

"The team were on scene within minutes and they dispersed the group, also confiscating alcohol off an underage individual. A local shop was subsequently fined for selling alcohol to a person under18 and referred to the Licensing Department. Selling alcohol to underage persons is illegal and contributes to issues of ASB, we would urge the public to inform us of any such issues they are aware of in order for us to keep taking positive action."

Police have said officers already conduct plain-clothed patrols on trams, carry out high-visibility foot patrols in the Station Road area of Beeston at peak times, and work closely with partners at tram network NET, who provide footage of any incidents caught on their extensive CCTV coverage across the network.
