Police called after man with 'offensive weapon' seen near Scots primary school

Police are hunting for a man who was carrying an offensive weapon near a primary school in Edinburgh.

Officers raced to Calder Grove in Edinburgh, near Sighthill Primary School, after the alarm was raised at 2.40pm on Wednesday. When police arrived the man was nowhere to be seen.

Extensive searches remain ongoing to trace him. There were no reported injuries during the incident.

Inquiries remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At 2.40pm on Wednesday, November 16, police were called to a report of a man in possession of an offensive weapon causing a disturbance on Calder Grove, Edinburgh. Officers attended and carried out searches and enquiries to trace him.

"There are no reports of any injuries and enquiries are continuing."
