A man was assaulted at a street party in north Manchester on the hottest day of the year, police have said. Officers were called to reports of a disturbance at Harmer Close in Newton Heath on Tuesday night.
Pictures from the scene show dozens of people gathered on a football and basketball court. In a video clip an MC can be heard over what appears to be sound system, as police line up across the road.

A witness said the party broke up peacefully some time after 10pm. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 8.18pm police were called to a report of a disturbance on Harmer Close.
"Officers attended and established that a street party was taking place and that a male has been assaulted."
