A shipment of machinery with 110kg of methamphetamine stashed inside has turned up in Sydney with police trying to track the potential recipients.
Australian Federal Police on Tuesday called for public help to find those responsible for the illicit haul, which was detected in a shipping container at Port Botany on October 3.
The drugs were found inside 22 packages that were hidden inside a wood planer that formed part of the consignment.
The anomaly was picked up during an x-ray of the shipment after it arrived from the United States.
AFP acting Detective Superintendent Jeremy Staunton said the drugs could have supplied more than one million street deals if they had made their way into circulation.
"The organised crime syndicates behind these large-scale importations don't care about the harm they're causing, the hospital admissions or drug driving accidents," he said.
"They only care about the profits they can make."
Investigators are working to track those behind the shipment and are looking for any information about people who might have been asked to take delivery of or store the machinery.
The haul is the latest in a series of major methamphetamine seizures in recent months, which have included the discovery of nearly 90kg hidden inside mattresses bound for Sydney.
Federal police also asked for public help to find the owners of a desk-sized wooden cabinet shipped from Canada in May that contained about 60kg of the drug.
