Police bust a gang of thieves in UP's Shamli, 3 held

SHAMLI: Police have busted a gang of robbers that targeted empty houses and arrested three men involved in a theft at a lawyer’s house in Shamli's Kamla colony on Sunday.

According to police, the members of the gang used to conduct reiki of the houses and targeted those where newspapers were lying unclaimed and lights were on during the day as they deduced that the house was empty. On April 25, advocate Sanjeev Kumar informed the police about the theft. He said that his family had gone on a religious tour to Mehandipur in Rajasthan on April 24. Upon returning home, they discovered that cash worth Rs 1.85 lakh, 50 grams of gold, and two diamond rings had been stolen from their house.

ASP OP Singh revealed that the police arrested three thieves including their mastermind Sanju, a resident of Chilkana Road in Saharanpur during a police encounter. The other two suspects were identified as Shiva, a resident of Shamli, and Gaurav, a resident of Panipat. He said, “The police had identified a suspicious bike rider who used to patrol the area before the incident took place. After scanning thousands of CCTV footage, we made the arrest. We have also recovered the stolen cash, gold, and jewellery from all three accused.”
