Police believe woman whose body was found at Adelphi Hotel died accidentally

The woman whose body was discovered at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool, sparking a murder probe, died accidentally.

Merseyside Police have confirmed that the woman at the centre of a murder investigation after her body was found in the Britannia-owned hotel in Liverpool city centre yesterday morning, September 10, died accidentally, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

Officers were called to the hotel at around 6.37am to reports of concern for safety, and when they arrived they found the body of a 22-year-old woman in a room. Three men, a 26-year-old from Seacombe, a 46-year-old from Liverpool, and a 49-year-old from Widnes were all arrested on suspicion of murder.

The trio were held in custody until a post-mortem examination confirmed that the death was accidental, and the three were released with no further action, the Liverpool Echo reports.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "A file is being prepared for the coroner after a post-mortem concluded that a 22-year-old (correct) woman, who died at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool city centre, died as a result of accidental death. Three men who were arrested on suspicion of murder during the investigation into the unexplained death have been released with no further action."

Detective Chief Inspector Lynsay Armbruster said yesterday: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation and are trying to determine the circumstances around the young woman's death. I would appeal to anyone who was in the hotel in the early hours of this morning who may have seen, or heard anything, at all to come forward.

“CCTV enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone with any information to please get in touch.”
