Two people have been arrested after a woman was seriously injured in an assault.
The victim - in her 40s - was rushed to hospital following the incident at a house in Eccleston Street, Wigan, early yesterday morning (Monday October 31). A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, possession of an offensive weapon, and criminal damage, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed.
Part of the street was taped off but this has since been removed. A GMP spokesman said: "We were called at around 4.50am to a report of an assault at an address on Eccleston Street, Wigan.

"A woman in her 40s was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. A man and a woman were both arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, possession of an offensive weapon, and criminal damage.
"A cordon was in place to allow enquiries to continue but has now been removed. An investigation is ongoing."
