Police arrest two men after drugs valued at over £150k found in routine stop on A9 near Perth

Police arrested and charged two men from the Manchester area after drugs valued at around £156,000 were recovered following a routine stop on the A9 near Perth.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said road policing officers stopped a white Kia Sportage at around 5pm on January 24 just south of the Broxden roundabout.

In a statement, the representative for the nationwide force said: “A search of the vehicle was carried out and a quantity of herbal cannabis with a street value of around £156,000 was recovered.

“Two men, the driver and a passenger, one aged 53 and one aged 31, were arrested and charged in connection with drug offences.”

It is understood that the men were due to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Detective Inspector Scott Carswell added: “Drugs cause misery in our communities and Police Scotland is determined to bring those responsible for the supply of illegal substances to justice.

“The public has an important role to play in stamping out this kind of activity and anyone with information about drugs should contact us via 101, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
