Police arrest man in connection with disappearance of 11-year-old Kaitlyn Easson

POLICE have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of an 11-year-old Scottish girl who vanished from a Scottish town.

Kaitlyn Easson went missing from Galashiels on Sunday evening and the search operation was stepped up into Monday when she was not found.

The young girl was eventually traced on Monday evening, with police confirming around 10:30pm that she was safe and well.

Now, Police Scotland has said that a 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with her disappearance.

The National understands that a police cordon put in place in Montgomerie Terrace in the village of Gattonside on Tuesday morning - first reported by the Daily Record - is linked with Easson's disappearance.

Officers said Easson had been “traced at a property in the Galashiels area around 9.30pm on Monday, 6 February”.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing,” the police said.
