Detectives investigating the stabbing at a crowded pub in east London have arrested a 29-year-old suspect following a public appeal.
A manhunt was launched after CCTV captured a knifeman walking behind an unsuspecting victim, 23, and slashing him repeatedly in the back. The footage was shared by police who appealed for information.
Officers were called to The Fatling in Hornchurch shortly after midnight on Saturday.
They battled to save the man who suffered “multiple stab wounds”.
He was taken to hospital following treatment at the scene. His injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.
A male was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on Monday and remains in custody.
Detective Sergeant Simon Williams, from the local policing team in Havering, said: “This has been a fast-moving investigation and I would like to thank the many members of the public who got in touch to assist with our enquiries.
“I am aware that footage of the incident has been posted on social media and I would ask the public to now stop sharing the video out of respect of the victim and to avoid prejudicing any future court proceedings.”
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances.
