Four men and a woman have been arrested over several incidents in Adelaide's north in which shots were fired, including between cars.

Firearms including a gel blaster were seized by police, who believe the incidents are linked.

Police were called to a house on Wallace Road at Elizabeth Vale about 5:30pm on Friday after neighbours reported hearing an altercation and then gunshots.

Shortly after, witnesses reported seeing shots fired from a silver BMW and a dark sedan as they "chased each other along Main North Road, causing the glass to smash on the rear window of one of the cars".

The BMW was allegedly located at a Smithfield home, which was searched by STAR Group officers about 2am on Saturday.

Police said a gel blaster was also found at the home, and a 48-year-old man from the address was arrested and charged with affray and possessing a firearm without a licence.

"While at the Smithfield home, police received information that two more gunshots had been heard near the address around the time of the first two incidents," police said.

Detectives searched an Elizabeth Park home on Saturday morning and seized a weapon "used in the offences", police said.

A 37-year-old man at the home was arrested and charged with firearms offences and failing to answer questions.

Hours later, police returned to the home at Elizabeth Vale, where the first incident had occurred, and charged a 39-year-old man with affray.

Police also returned to the Smithfield home on Saturday night and arrested a 36-year-old woman, who is accused of firing one of the weapons and breaching bail.

A 37-year-old St Agnes man was also charged with affray after police searched a Hillbank home about 1:45am on Saturday.

Police are continuing to investigate and have asked anyone with dashcam footage or information to contact Crime Stoppers.

"There have been no reported injuries to members of the public," police said.

"Police believe all incidents are linked and all parties are known to each other."

The five people will all face court tomorrow.
