Police Scotland are appealing to the public for information after a serious road crash on the A74 left a woman in a “serious condition” in the hospital.
The crash happened on the A74 near Beattock, Dumfries and Galloway on Saturday, July 9 at around 140pm. A 37-year-old driver of a Mercedes lost control of the vehicle just south of junction 15 and came off the road.
The Police and ambulances raced to the scene and attended to a 35-year-old woman who was the passenger in the vehicle. She was taken by Air Ambulance to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where staff describe her condition as “serious but stable”.

The 37-year-old driver of the car and the two passengers in the back seat, aged just six and nine, did not require medical treatment. Police say that the road would have been busy at the time of the crash as they appeal to the public.
Cops are eager to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of it. Anyone who has not already spoken to the police is urged to contact them on 101 and quote incident number 1735 of July 9.
Sergeant David Kerr said: “Enquiries are continuing into the cause of this crash. The road would have been busy at the time of the crash and I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone with dash-cam footage who has not yet spoken to officers to contact us on 101 quoting reference 1735 of July 9.”
