Police appeal over Co Tyrone hit and run crash

Police in Co Tyrone are investigating after a report of a hit and run crash in Fivemiletown on Saturday night.

Multiple police vehicles and a helicopter were reported in the town around midnight on Saturday, with police saying two vehicles were involved in a collision on Main Street before one drove off at speed.

The black Audi, which was reported to have crashed into another car, was found a short time later in the Meadowview area of the town.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the crash, but police are appealing for information from anyone who may have been in the area at the time.

"Police are investigating and appealing for witnesses following a report of a hit-and-run road traffic collision in the Fivemiletown area," a PSNI spokesperson said.

"Police received a report that two vehicles were involved in a collision in the Main Street area shortly before 11.40pm on Saturday, 7th January.

"It was reported a black Audi struck another vehicle and drove off at speed. There were no reports of any serious injuries.

"Officers attended and the suspected vehicle was later located in the Meadowview area.

"Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have footage that could assist with our investigation, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1948 of 07/01/23."
