Police appeal for public help after fire started deliberately at Paisley flat

Detectives in Paisley are appealing for information after a fire was set at a property in Blackstoun Oval in Paisley.

The blaze was started around 2pm on Friday and is being treated as wilful fire-raising.

Officers were called to the flat after the front door was set on fire and it was established that it was deliberate.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Knox said: “Luckily, no one was injured during this incident, but it could have been much more serious.

“We are working to trace whoever is responsible and we have been carrying out enquiries and checking CCTV from in and around the local area.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious - or who has information or personal footage that may assist our investigation - to contact 101 quoting reference 1762.
