Officers investigating a spate of suspected thefts across the North East are appealing for victims to come forward.
Between Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8, police received six reports of theft from a range of premises across Newcastle and North Tyneside - including hair salons and pubs.
It was reported in all incidents that a male suspect approached victims, distracting them with a newspaper which has then been used to discretely conceal and steal items, such as mobile phones and cash.

An investigation was launched after each report, and a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft.
However, officers believe there are more victims and are today, (April 12), appealing for anyone who may have been affected to come forward.
The victims, or anyone with information, are asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101 quoting ref NP-20230408-0962. Alternatively, you can email 1019@northumbria.police.uk.
