Two shop workers attacked during robbery at a Spar store in North Tyneside

Officers are appealing for information following a robbery at a North Tyneside shop.

Shortly before 9pm on Friday (February 11) police received a report of a robbery at the Spar store in Dudley, North Tyneside.

It was reported that a male offender entered the store and threatened then assaulted two female members of staff. He went on to steal approximately £920 in cash from the till.

While thankfully nobody was injured, staff who were present at the time were left shaken by the incident.

An investigation has been launched into the robbery and Northumbria Police is carrying out a range of enquiries in a bid to trace the person responsible.

It was reported that the offender was believed to be 6'4, of slim build wearing all black clothes. He was also carrying a black backpack.
