Police appeal for footage after 'public order incident' in Newark

Officers are appealing for information after a 'public order incident' occurred in a Nottinghamshire town centre. Members of the Newark Response and Neighbourhood Policing Teams were called to Carter Gate, Newark, on Friday, April 28.

It is not clear what the incident was, but Nottinghamshire Police believes a number of people in the town witnessed the incident and may have recorded it on their phones. Anyone with footage of what happened is asked to contact the force to help them understand what happened and who was involved.

A statement on Facebook posted by Newark Police stated: "Earlier today (Friday 28/04/2023) Officers from Newark Response and Neighbourhood Policing Teams attended a Public Order incident on Carter Gate Newark. From our initial investigation, we have identified some of those involved.

"We believe that a number of people witnessing this incident may have captured footage using their mobile phones – if you do have video footage or any other information in relation to this entirely unacceptable behaviour, please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 and quote incident 0507_28042023.

"Alternatively, email newarknpt@notts.police.uk quoting that incident number and we will get back to you. We believe that those involved should be held responsible for their part in this incident – your help could help ensure that happens."
