Police appeal for dashcam footage after pedestrian hit and killed by car on A9 near Perth

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian died after being hit by a car on the A9 near Perth.

The distressing incident happened at around 1.30pm on Wednesday, January 25, on the southbound carriageway of the key trunk road between the Inveralmond and Broxden roundabouts.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said that the man, 42, who was on foot at the time, was struck by a white Peugeot 2008 car and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

It is understood that the 31-year-old woman driving the car was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary as a precaution and then later discharged.

Police are investigating the incident and have called on witnesses and drivers with dashcam footage to get in
touch.

Sergeant Kevin Wilkie, of Police Scotland’s roads policing unit in Perth, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and everyone affected by this crash.

“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances is ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information or dashcam footage from the road at the time to get in touch.

“People can call 101, quoting reference ‘1618’ of January 25.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 2.30pm on Wednesday, January 25, to reports of a road traffic collision in Perth.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the A9, near Broxden.

“Crews assisted their police partners and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.”

Police have said that information can also be given by calling the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.

The road was closed to allow for an investigation at the scene and fully re-opened later the same day at around 7pm.

Drivers reported long tailbacks on the Dunkeld Road and the A85 while the road was closed.
