Police appeal for BMW drivers as woman fights for life after being hit by car

Officers investigating a serious crash in Liverpool city centre this weekend are appealing for two BMW drivers.

A woman is fighting for her life after being hit by a red Vauxhall on Brownlow Hill, on Sunday, January 30.

Police and paramedics attended the scene, at around 2.55pm, and the woman was airlifted to Aintree hospital with serious injuries.

The woman, in her 60s, today remains in a critical condition, as police issue a fresh appeal for information.

A 31-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man, both from Liverpool, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

They were questioned by police and have now been released under investigation while police enquiries continue.

Now police want to trace two BMW drivers who were driving on Brownlow Hill shortly before the crash.

Roads Policing Sergeant Amy Murray said: "While we have made two arrests, our investigation into a collision in Liverpool City Centre which left a woman seriously injured is ongoing, and we are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

"We’re particularly keen to speak to the drivers of two BMW vehicles who were driving on Brownlow Hill shortly before the collision occurred. Our CCTV enquiries so far show that they may have information that could assist us with our investigation.

"If you were in the Brownlow Hill area and witnessed the collision, saw anything, or captured anything on mobile phone or dashcam, then please come forward.

"Any information, however small it may seem, could provide vital to our enquiries.

"Whether you come forward to us directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, let us know and we will do the rest.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call Matrix Roads Policing Unit on (0151) 777 5747, email SCIU@merseyside.police.uk, or DM @MerPolCC on Twitter quoting reference 22000071976.
