Police appeal after spate of sex attacks on women near Old Street Tube station

Police are seeking to trace two victims of sexual assault after a suspected spate of attacks close to Old Street Tube station in the City of London.

Detectives launched a probe after two sexual assaults were reported within just an hour in Bunhill Fields and Bunhill Row, close to Old Street Tube station, between 3pm and 4pm on May 2.

They have not been identified.

Officers have linked the attacks to two separate sexual assaults within the City of London that took place on June 19 and August 16. Those victims were identified and are being supported by police.

Met Detective Constable Tom Wright said there was a possibility that the attacker had committed other offences on the Islington/City of London border, and urged any other potential victims to get in touch.

“I am appealing to the public for information regarding the two sexual assaults that took place on Thursday, 2 May. I want to know if you were in the area at this time, or if you saw anything suspicious take place. If you did, then I urge you to get in contact with us as soon as possible.

“We are currently working to trace the two women who were attacked - if you were a victim then please reach out to us in order to gain the support you need - we want to be there for you. You can contact us directly on 101 or if you wish to remain anonymous then please speak to Crimestoppers.

A man was arrested by officers from City of London police and subsequently charged with four counts of sexual assault.
