A loose Rottweiler ran up to a teenage boy in a play area and bit him, police said. The 12-year-old boy was bitten on the leg during the incident at the Pirate Play Park, off Loscoe Road, in Carrington.
His trousers were ripped and he was left in pain. Police, who have asked witnesses to come forward, are now working to trace the dog's owner as part of the force investigation into what happened.
Police Constable John Pearson said: “The dog, which was off its lead, ran up to the young boy and bit him. Thankfully his injuries are not serious.
