Police appeal after man left with serious injuries in city centre 'fight'

A 37 year old man has been left with serious head injuries after an assault in the city centre. The assault took place shortly before 4.30am on Sunday, May 21, at the junction of Clumber Street and Upper Parliament Street.

Nottinghamshire Police were called to the scene over reports of a fight, with two men running from the scene. The victim had a large cut to his head and was unresponsive but breathing.

He had allegedly been punched and kicked. CCTV images have now been released by officers of two men that they would like to trace following the incident, who they believe could help them with their inquiries.

Police Investigation Officer Russell Oliver said: “This assault happened on a busy street with quite a few people present at the time. Some people captured the incident on their mobile phones and we would still encourage these people to come forward to help us with our investigation.

“We are determined to catch the people responsible for this nasty assault. This is completely unacceptable behaviour and they need to be brought to justice. We have released CCTV images of two men that could help us with our inquiries. Anyone who recognises the people pictured or if you are the two people pictured we would ask you to get in touch with us immediately."

Anyone with information should contact the police by calling 101 quoting incident number 0127 of 21 May 2023. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
