Crime scene investigators were called to a small Salford cul-de-sac after a house fire. Firefighters were called to Maple Close, in Pendleton, late on Friday night (May 6) and police are now working to establish how the blaze started.
Three fire crews attended just after 11.15pm and forensics officers were then seen heading in and out of one of the homes in the close yesterday afternoon. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that nobody was in the property at the time of the fire and no one has been injured.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed a joint investigation with GMP is underway. A GMFRS spokesman said: "Just after 11.15pm on Friday 6 May, GMFRS crews were called to reports of a fire in a home on Maple Close, Salford.

"Three fire engines from Salford and Agecroft stations responded quickly to the incident. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reels to extinguish the fire and a positive pressure ventilation fan to make the property safe.
“The GMFRS fire investigation team is now working with Greater Manchester Police to determine the cause of the fire."
A GMP spokesman added: "It was a small scale fire inside a property but no one was inside at the time so no injuries."
