The August 2023 Pokemon Presents showcase has come and gone, with Scarlet and Violet DLC updates and quite a bit more. The 30-minute presentation announced a free Mew ahead of a climactic showdown against Mewtwo in an upcoming Tera Raid. There’s also a new Detective Pikachu 2 trailer, new Pokemon forms, and confirmation of The Pokemon Trading Card Game coming to Nintendo Switch Online. What there isn’t is a new Pokemon game announcement, so despite rumors of a new Legends in the works, it looks like Scarlet and Violet DLC is Game Freak’s priority for the foreseeable future.
Detective Pikachu Returns trailer
Detective Pikachu Returns launches Oct. 6, 2023, and Game Freak released a new trailer highlighting a bit of what to expect in Ryme City. Tim’s father is missing, but that’s far from the only problem blowing into town. Tim and Pikachu have some extra help this time, though, with companion Pokemon such as Growlithe and Darmanitan to help overcome puzzles and sniff out clues.
Detective Pikachu Returns pre-orders are open now at retailers and on the Nintendo eShop.
Pokemon Unite Second Anniversary events
Pokemon Unite, the Pokemon MOBA, is celebrating its second birthday in grand fashion. Mewtwo made their debut at last as an attacker who can evolve into Mega Mewtwo X during battle, and there’s an event running until Aug. 15, 2023, where you can obtain their license for free. A new mode landed, and there’s a range of daily login bonuses running while the anniversary event lasts.
Nemona joins Pokemon Masters EX
Nemona from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is joining the mobile game Pokemon Masters EX, with her trusty companion Pawmot. They come with the new Sprint role, and you can get a free 3,000 Gems if you log in on the day of the presentation (Aug. 8, 2023).
New Pokemon anime - Paldean Winds
The Pokemon Company is running a new, four-part anime on YouTube called Paldean Winds. Spy x Family animation studio WIT is responsible for bringing this short series to life, which follows a group of students as they start life at Paldea’s prestigious academy.
The first episode will air on Sep. 6, 2023.

The classic Pokemon Trading Card Game is available now for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, and if you have the Expansion Pack, you can get the N64 hit Pokemon Stadium.
Get a free Mew and Mewtwo in Scarlet and Violet
Mewtwo is coming to Scarlet and Violet in a new Tera Raid event that begins on Sep. 1, 2023, and ahead of that, you can get a free Mew via a new Mystery Code from now until Sep. 18, 2023.
